Better to be natural than broken up

Most available in-ear headphones are based on technology that originally stems from hearing aids with multi-way drivers. While ingenious at the time, this unfortunately impacts acoustic performance in a negative way. Such impacts to the sound are contrary to our principles.
As a result, Sennheiser has worked since 1945 to develop and reinvent the single dynamic driver technology, finetuning with each new release. The outcome; a powerfully large sound in an impressively small space. A phenomenally low distortion factor is only one of the several advantages.

Clarity for the ear and the mind.

Because of their limited range, balanced armature drivers ‘dissect’ the sound pattern and piece it together from several sections, leaving them prone to crossover effects and other acoustic artifacts.

Sennheiser’s extra wideband transducer reproduces the sound as an organic whole and delivers a natural and warm overall effect.

Less stress in the ear

The inner ear is a marvel of evolution and at the same time a labyrinth in which sound waves and frequencies are interpreted.

With IE 400 PRO and IE 500 PRO, we integrated a two-chamber absorber. This reduces resonance peaks caused by the natural functioning of the ear while resonances would otherwise mask higher frequencies and tire one’s hearing.

It no longer needs to be loud. Because it is precise.

At high sound levels, multi-way drivers tend to distort more quickly and begin to clip. However, high volumes have become crucial to in-ear monitoring on loud stages.
Thanks to broadband transducers that are lighter, softer and more flexible even at maximum levels, the sound is stable and free from distortion, thus alleviating your ears from acoustic stress.

Small and comfortable

Our dynamic driver is reduced down to micro-size. The higher-end IE 400 PRO and IE 500 PRO generate their sound by virtue of our TrueResponse® technology from drivers measuring only 7 mm while the entry-level IE 100 PRO system utilizes 10 mm drivers. This minimized design offers a more comfortable fit without sacrificing sound quality, especially during long sessions.

A wider sound stage with real punch

Sennheiser’s single-dynamic driver system moves significantly more air in the inner ear compared to balanced-armature drivers. This provides a substantially wider sound stage where lower and mid-range frequencies are not only heard, but also felt.
